“Sexting” means sending or getting sexual explicit or suggestive images, messages, or video on a smartphone or through the Internet. The phenomenon of sexting comes with risks affecting the bio-psycho-social well-being of teens. These risks, initiated and maintained in an online context, have a reciprocal and bidirectional relationship with the off-line reality of the individual.
The project BEHIND SEXTING – Intergenerational digital sex education wants to:
Raising teens’, parents’, teachers’ awareness about the risks of sexting and to encourage an intergenerational critical discussion around sexting;
Provide a training process addressed to teachers/trainers supported by experts in multimedia, sex education, psychology, students between 10 and 19 years and their parents using peer learning;
Create an opportunity for teens to learn about the risks of sexting in a peer-to peer manner in two different but interconnected moments:
- Teachers will be directly involved, under the supervision of experts, in the definition of the didactic materials of digital sex education
2. Students who, thanks to the teaching materials previously produced and the supervision of teachers, will acquire awareness of the risks of sexting.

Within the BEHIND SEXTING project, 4 Intellectual Outputs will be produced:
IO1: Context analysis;
IO2: Educational model – handbook;
IO3: Educational path;
IO4: Guidelines.
The project is financed under the Erasmus+ KA201 – Strategic Partnerships for school education program. The duration of the project is 24 months, starting with the 1st of October 2020, and the total eligible budget of the project is 232.444,00 EUR.
