EMPLOY ME
The aim of the EMPLOY ME project (Digital paths to motivate and include young 2nd generation migrants in employment) is to create a new innovative form of educational content that will enable unemployed young second-generation migrants to develop, strengthen and improve their employability skills and competencies and thus increase their competitiveness on the labor market. Ultimately, this will lead to the successful integration of young 2nd generation migrants into the local society, thereby creating benefits for the local community and economy.
The EMPLOY ME project also aims to strengthen the European agenda to promote the social inclusion of migrants through actions that support their inclusion in education and, more importantly, in employment. This will lead to the promotion of economic growth, job creation and the development of new skills in Europe in order to close existing economic and social gaps.
The project consortium is made up of 7 partner organisations from 7 EU countries:
Asociacija MINTIES BITES (Lithuania)
Asociación Valencia Inno Hub (Spain)
MUNDUS Bulgaria (Bulgaria)
Innovation Hive (Greece)
Institute for Regional Development (Czech Republic)
Jobalito RECTECH LTD (Cyprus)
Connect Your City-Brussels (Belgium)
Within the EMPLOY ME project, 4 work packages (WP) are planned:
PB 1: Project Management
In the initial phases of the project, the consortium prepares all the details needed to ensure smooth cooperation and efficient implementation. The first outcome of the project concerns project management, which ensures that activities are designed, evaluated and disseminated in an accessible and inclusive way. It also sets out a plan to address risks in controlling budgets and managing time. In the last step, digital tools are defined to facilitate the activities and environmental practices that are incorporated into the project.
PB 2: Toolkit for young 2nd generation migrants
The main outcome of WP2 is the creation of a toolkit for second-generation young migrants that provides useful resources for developing their employability skills. Specifically, the toolkit contains a package of 40 digital resources designed around “micro-learning”: short and coherent learning blocks delivered in multimedia formats, aiming to support a blended learning methodology. The work packages build on a preliminary survey carried out by the project partners in the preparatory phase of the project, which defined the following key employability skills and competencies as essential in the labor market: Business acumen, Communication, Teamwork, Negotiation and persuasion, Problem-solving, Leadership, Organisation, Perseverance and motivation, Time management, Self-confidence.
PB 3: Virtual Academy
WP3 aims to develop a pan-European platform (the EMPLOY ME Virtual Academy) to provide a user-friendly and interactive gamified learning environment together with social engagement solutions to enable young migrants to influence and measure their own employability skills and competencies. Integrated social engagement solutions will also ensure that young migrants can share their results and achievements on social media, which will encourage further engagement within the youth community. The integration of young migrants into the labor market will be supported through digital games, resulting in the strengthening of key competencies and knowledge. The Virtual Academy will also provide free access to a toolbox and will be available in English and in all national languages of the partners.
PB 4: Toolkit for youth workers
The main outcome will be the creation of the EMPLOY ME toolkit for youth workers, which will include the following:
▪️ The EMPLOY ME Toolkit for 2nd generation young migrants provides relevant guidance and instructions on how it can be applied by youth workers and organisations helping young migrants to improve their employability.
▪️ Toolkit that youth workers, VET trainers and organisations can use to develop the employability skills of young migrants of Generation 2.
▪️ Evidence and data collected through pilot activities in the form of a summary report.
▪️ Guidance and instructions on how youth workers and relevant organisations can use the EMPLOY ME virtual academy.
The project will be implemented over a period of 24 months, starting on 1st November 2022, with a total project budget of EUR 250 000.00.
