HELP

What if becoming debt-free started with a single conversation?

The HELP Project (StrengtHening comPEtences in financiaL literacy and debt issues on the way to citizens), an EU Single Market Program, addresses the critical need for accessible debt advice by connecting everyday citizens directly with professional financial advisers. HELP provides discreet, stigma-free support both online and face-to-face, empowering citizens to overcome financial challenges.

Debt-related inquiries represent over a third of questions posed to Czech Citizens Advice Centres, highlighting a growing need for accessible financial guidance. The HELP Project tackles geographical and social barriers by establishing an innovative web platform, offering anonymous, real-time debt counselling. Additionally, at least 20 Citizens Advice Centres across the Czech Republic will offer face-to-face consultations.

To ensure effectiveness and relevance, HELP begins by conducting comprehensive surveys among consumers and stakeholders, capturing real-life financial challenges. This is complemented by a detailed legislative analysis carried out in partnership with experts from Charles University, identifying strengths and gaps in current debt-relief policies.

HELP further strengthens frontline support through targeted workshops, equipping advisers with updated legal knowledge, practical negotiation skills, and digital proficiency. Seven regional seminars will foster knowledge exchange among advisers, social-service providers, judges, and non-profits, promoting collaborative solutions to real-world debt issues.

By providing an accessible, multilingual debt-advice platform, comprehensive adviser training, in-depth legislative analysis, and broad community engagement, HELP seeks to positively influence debt-relief policies.
