Members of the European Parliament are directly elected by EU citizens to represent their interests. Elections take place every five years to elect EU citizens over 18 years, which represents more than 300 million voters. The European Parliament currently has 766 members from all 28 Member States.
The European Parliament promotes the interests of voters. It deals with eg. the same salary for men and women, supporting the construction of highways, passenger rights advocates, promotes exchange and educational programs.
